Volunteer Opportunities

Throughout the year, numerous opportunities are available for those who wish to volunteer in any capacity.

Arts & Humanities
This committee is responsible for determining and scheduling appropriate cultural and educational enhancement programs for all students in every grade. The goal is to have at least 1 program for each grade level every year.

Book Fair
This committee is responsible for bringing 2 book fairs to each school every year (Fall and Spring). Each event is 1 week. Responsibilities of this committee include: creating communications for the book fair to students, parents, and staff, setting-up and breaking-down the displays, scheduling volunteers, and balancing the books at the end of the fair.

Box Tops for Education
Box Tops are found on hundreds of grocery products. This committee communicates to our school community about the importance of colleting and giving Box Tops to our schools. They also sort Box Tops received and send in Box Tops for cash redemption. The money redeemed goes to help defray the cost of field trip buses.

Arguably the most important committee of the PTA! This committee is responsible for researching and implementing fundraisers that will directly benefit our students and schools. Duties include: coordinating the fundraiser, communication, ticket selling, recording payments, and finding volunteers to work at the events.

This purpose of this committee is to coordinate a back-to-school welcome for the teachers and staff, coordinate Teacher Appreciation Week, and assist with any “sunshine” gifts for our teachers and staff.

Spring Community Service Project
This project is helps give back to Senior Citizens in our community by creating “baskets” of gifts from each grade level (K-6) of our schools. This committee picks a theme, works with the teacher and volunteers to create the grade “gift”, coordinates the recipient list, and delivers the baskets to our seniors.

Website & Facebook
This committee is responsible for maintaining the Mattapoisett PTA website and Facebook page. This includes taking photos, writing articles, uploading documents, and general website maintenance.

The purpose of the yearbook committee is to create 2 separate yearbooks for Center and Old Hammondtown Schools. This group is responsible for entire creation of the books — taking photos, identifying students, creating age layouts and text – and selling and distributing the yearbooks.
